Memorial Timecube — Korea Memorial Festa

Memorial Timecube — Korea Memorial Festa 2024

Memorial Timecube’ offers an innovative experience of encountering digital humans. The architectural form of this space is dominated by an impressive black angular facade composed of geometric patterns and QR codes. Rebel9 expresses the movement and dynamism of time through a combination of cantilever structures and sharp angles. Furthermore, the kinetic typography applied to the facade and the perspective within the space lead visitors to rediscover the meaning of veterans’ service in time. The contrast between the interior and exterior of the building is also noteworthy.

The brightly lit central entrance, in contrast to the dark exterior, hints at the immersive and transformative sense of space inside. The dynamic movement of the LED media facade and the optical illusions pouring from the interior ceiling create an atmosphere of virtual reality, leading visitors to an experience that transports them to a different time and space. The logo design of Memorial Timecube also visually encapsulates this concept. The two words, “Memorial” and “Timecube,” are arranged horizontally, creating a 2D representation of a perspective effect as if viewed from different angles in a 3D space. “Memorial” viewed from the left and “Timecube” seen from the right encourage visitors to examine the subject of memory from multiple perspectives. It also suggests that recollecting the past can take on different meanings depending on one’s current position. Within the geometric and restrained forms, the two words create a visual rhythm that captivates the eye.

In this way, Memorial Timecube realizes the aesthetic values of temporality and immersion through a creative fusion of architecture and graphic design. The innovation in spatial design, such as the black angular facade, cantilever structure, and kinetic typography, along with the artistic logo design utilizing perspective effects, will provide visitors with a new dimension of experience. Furthermore, all of these visual presentations contribute to conveying the message of veterans’ service that the exhibition aims to deliver, in an intuitive yet profound way. Memorial Timecube is an innovative space born from the convergence of art, technology, and social values, and it will be remembered as a venue for new cultural experiences.
