Gyeonggi-do Memory, Library of Memory
The year 2018 marks the 1,000th anniversary of the birth of the name Gyeonggi-do. Gyeonggi-do Memory, Library of Memory is an exhibition of Gyeonggi-do as a conduit for expanding and expanding in all directions while taking up a thousand years of Gyeonggi-do. Visitors to Gyeonggi-do Memory, Library of Memory meet a special catalog card that fills the library and its contents. Before digital appeared, the library recorded information and stories of books on its own catalog card. At a time when all libraries are digitally connected and e-books are spread, the exhibition printed the story of the millennium on paper cards one by one.
Just as libraries and paper books still attract us to the imaginary world, in Gyeonggi-do Memory, Library of Memory, visitors travel to the imaginary world of Gyeonggi-do. And visitors face questions about individual memories of drawing Gyeonggi-do. The true stories of the Gyeonggi millennium are not in the stories, which were chosen by someone. When various cultural resources meet with our memories, a new path to digital archive will be opened. Enter Gyeonggi-do Memory, Library of Memory, and you will find a library of 1003 story cards, a desk of wisdom that will unfold 1,000 years of Gyeonggi-do in front of us, and a memory of Gyeonggi-do.
The series of process of taking a story card out of the library of memories and reading it from the desk of wisdom is like a journey across a thousand years of time and space in Gyeonggi-do. This journey is derived from all directions, not from a single trip along a single line, but from a multilayered flow of time and space. Visitors will calmly look back on a thousand years of time, facing the cultural, heritage, character, and events created by the land of Gyeonggi-do from the Three Kingdoms Period to the present day, through an unimaginable, open trip to the destination cannot be predicted.
