Google for Korea 2024: 20th Anniversary Interactive Exhibition

Rebel9 produced the 〈Google for Korea 2024〉 exhibition commemorating Google Korea’s 20th anniversary. The exhibition incorporated Google Sans, Noto Sans, and YouTube Sans, utilizing glyph elements from the corporate logos throughout the exhibition design.

The guestbook media space, inspired by traditional folding screens, collected and displayed visitors’ congratulatory messages. The ‘media folding screen,’ crafted with mirror surfaces, showcased messages accumulating like bricks along with firework graphics, while simultaneously serving as a photo zone for visitors.

The archive media highlighted Google Korea’s 20-year journey through three categories: ‘INNOVATION’, ‘CULTURE’, and ‘SOCIETY’. Google’s AI model Gemini analyzed visitors’ interests to recommend one of eight personas, with results updating in real-time on the main display.

The centerpiece featured 11 LED towers symbolizing an anniversary cake while showcasing Google Korea’s journey through dynamic visual content. The media installation presented two distinct perspectives: one side displayed the stories of Google Korea’s team members and partner companies, with a ‘media cake’ conveying a message of continued partnership for the future. The other side exhibited Google Korea’s key milestones through various presentation formats.

The vibrant colors of the ‘Google for Korea’ logotype brought life to the entire exhibition space. The facade, painted in the logo’s blue shade, welcomed visitors with its striking presence. Inspired by the roof of Gyeongbokgung Palace’s Geunjeongjeon Hall, the pavilion-style facade was reimagined in steel, creating a contemporary interpretation of traditional architecture.

The exhibition space was constructed using modular zinc angular pipes and stainless steel plates, with Google’s major product logos and taglines strategically placed throughout to establish context. Considering the outdoor setting, zone signage was crafted with polished steel plates and protective media roofing, while the archive media setup consisted of two 55-inch panels, a 24-inch kiosk panel, and a persona label printer, thoughtfully positioned to accommodate various visitor traffic flows.
